HOLLIE MCKAY

Around Childcare Director

Since graduating from the University of Nottingham with a Psychology (BSc) degree, I have worked with children of all ages and completed my CACHE Level 3 Childcare Studies alongside caring for them. Prior to beginning Around Childcare, I worked with a number of SEN children, began and ran a holiday club in Wetherby for children ages 4-11 and completed many training courses from 'Understanding Autism/ADHD/Asperger's' to 'Level 3 in Food Safety and Hygiene'.

ISABEL SPURR

Before/After School and Holiday Club Manager

I first started volunteering with children at the age of 16 when I was a young leader for a local Rainbows and Brownies group and knew from this that I loved organizing the activities for the children and working with them as they grow and learn. I moved to Leeds to study for my degree in Visual Communications, which I have since secured, and not long after began working for Around Childcare. I love working for Around Childcare and working with all the children that come into our care.

KATY ROBINSON

Preschool Lead

My career in Early Years education began in 2018, where I have since had the pleasure of working at two local nurseries, a play cafe and as a private family nanny. Over the years, I have gained diverse childcare experience and not to mention meeting all the wonderful families along the way!
I enjoy utilizing the skills from my degree in Illustration to offer engaging and artistic opportunities for children. It is my passion to embed deep curiosity and nurturing moments into children. I believe each child deserves to play, be inspired and holistically cared for.

MS J BROWN

Wraparound Childcare Assistant

Hi! My name is Miss J Brown, the J stands for Jellybean (or so the kids believe)! I was a SEN TA for 20 glorious years, which was more of a vocation then a job. I have worked along side teachers and learning mentors at a Christian holiday club, tutored primary school children and was a certified Safeguarding leader at my local church. In 2019, I decided to take early retirement but as I thoroughly loved working with children have since become a Lunchtime Supervisor at St Matthews and began working at Around Childcare.

JENNAH VOLLANS

I look forward to beginning my journey at Around Childcare in September and getting involved with the activities and getting to know the children.

My interest in childcare started at college while I completed my T-Level in Early Years and Childcare. I left college with my Level 3 and knew I wanted to progress within childcare. I am now in my First Year at Leeds Beckett studying Psychology in Education. I am excited to start my career with Around Childcare and eager to be involved with the clubs activities and getting to know the children.

PHOEBE LITTLE

Wraparound Childcare Assistant

I’m currently studying Songwriting at Leeds Conservatoire. However, next year, I’m switching it up and doing a conversion course in Psychology, in the hopes of doing a doctorate in Education Psychology. I’ve always enjoyed working with children and young people, initially wanting to work as a music therapist but, after working at the YMCA in disability services, and growing up with my twin sister who is autistic, I’ve developed a keen interest in education and finding the best way to accommodate children’s learning, whatever their needs! I can’t wait to see what working at Around Childcare brings. I’m excited to meet new people and help in facilitating the children’s learning, enjoyment and growing confidence!

AMEENAH KARIM

Wraparound Childcare Assistant

My passion for childcare began with the arrival of my niece; watching her grow and develop deepened my appreciation for the joys and responsibilities of nurturing young children. During my second year of university, while studying Working with Children, Young People, and Families, I completed a placement in a nursery setting. This provided me with hands-on experience working with children in a professional environment, solidifying my decision to pursue a career in education. I look forward to working for Around Childcare, getting to know the children, and helping them learn and play.

OLIVIA ROBERTS

Wraparound Childcare Assistant

I first started to want to work in childcare during my T-Level in Early Years and Education in college. I completed two years of placement in a reception and nursery class which confirmed my passion for working with children. I then became a toddler football coach, and this taught me lots of necessary skills to work with young children. I am now studying Primary Education at Leeds Trinity University in hopes to become a primary school teacher in the future. I love helping children learn, grow, and develop and so I am excited to join the Around Childcare team.

ELLIE PYLE

I realised I loved working with children as soon as I started to volunteer at a Children’s football camp. I felt passionate about making sure every child was involved and I still do within my work today. I am currently studying at Leeds Beckett University for Criminology in my first year. In the future, I hope to specialise in victimisation, specifically young victims. I am looking forward to working at around childcare and I am excited to get involved in many activities and getting to know the children further.

MILLIE DICKINSON

Holiday Club Childcare Assistant

Hello, my name is Millie and working with kids is something I have always wanted to do long term. My hope is to qualify as a Primary school teacher, but on the road to this goal, I have been a Young Leader to a Cub Scout group, ran drama lessons at my local Primary school and been a councillor at a summer camp in New York. I love working with children because at my heart I'm still a big kid. I've always been in awe of children and wanted to understand their little worlds. I have found that by encouraging their whimsey and engaging with it earnestly, I am able to see the unique needs and passions of each child and connect with them in a way that allows me to provide them with the support and understanding that they might not always have access to, and with this, the chance to feel seen and believed in.

BECKY JENNINGS

Holiday Club Childcare Assistant

I have always known working with children is what I’m passionate about. I started out babysitting at 15 and later worked as a Party Princess, which solidified how much I enjoyed creating fun, positive experiences for children and making their days fun and meaningful. I then studied Primary Education and worked as a teacher for five years, supporting children’s learning and development and I had the privilege to work with a variety of different children, supporting their different needs and abilities. This was a role I truly loved. After that, I decided I was ready for a change and Around Childcare is the perfect place for me to keep doing what I am passionate about and a role I thoroughly enjoy in a more hands-on, nurturing environment.
