We are located in the bungalow next to St Matthews Primary School.
OUR FACILITIES
On Site
Our preschool is held on the premises of St Matthews school - making it easier for parents with older children and opting for a single school drop off. We have a seperate building from the school whilst still having access to the securities of St matthews.
Rooms
In our preschool, we have organised our space to give each room a different teaching purpose. For example, our role play room to teach your child to embrace their imagination and to develop their socialisation. We also have art spaces, and teaching spaces as well as a sensory room.
Toilet Training
We cater for children aged 3 - 5. Because of this, we require children to be toilet trained/ training when they begin with us. We do not have nappy changing facilities however, we are more than happy to support you in this part of your child's development.
Before and After School
Our preschool is open from 9am - 3pm. However, due to our current presence within the school at our before and after school club, we are able to expand our facilities to cater for the children attended our preschool. During these times (7.30-9am and 3 - 6pm) the children will have access to our current facilities within the school and will be mixed with the older children who attend the school and our before and after school club.
CURRICULUM
Through group activities, games, art and play we will make sure your children are as prepared as possible for their future in school. We follow the EYFS standards for learning and development in our curriculum. This means that through play we will be covering areas such as:
- Physical development
- Literacy
- Communication and language
- Understanding the world
- Personal, social and emotional development
- mathematics
- Expressive arts and design

My daughter joined St Matthew’s Preschool last September, just after turning 3. At the time, her first language wasn’t English, and I was concerned about how she would manage. She didn’t speak English and was very shy. In the beginning, she cried every morning and didn’t want to go to school. I would highly recommend St Matthew's Pre-school. Our son has been going four days a week since September 2024. Katy and Hollie provide the most welcoming and caring atmosphere for the children. The activities they offer are wide ranging but always put the children's learning and enjoyment first. My son has really enjoyed activities such as yoga, seed planting, enjoying the outside space and the quiet room. The communication with parents & carers is excellent through the Famly app. We have really enjoyed parent pop ins as well. I absolutely trust them to look after our son and I'm so grateful to have them both in his life!
St Matthew’s Preschool has been absolutely amazing for our little one this year. He has truly blossomed in confidence and become so much more independent. It’s been a really important transition, and thanks to the care and support from the staff, he now feels fully ready to start school.

PRICES
Preschool is open from 9.00 - 15.00, catering for children aged 3-5. We offer the children a morning snack.

Please note we have a £5 voluntary charge per day for any parents who pay with the free childcare hours. This is to include the following charges:

- Arts and Craft Materials
- Cooking ingredients for baking and food Play
